The reason I love this movie so much is
that it is the cinematography.
I can't help feeling memories for my
school days and this movie brings it out to the surface.
I know what you did last summer with
freddie prince jnr and jennifer love hewitt is a movie that gives you
that,” I feel nice and warm and safe in my bedroom watching this
movie from afar feel”.
However you cozy up when the scobby doo
mystery suspense element is added to the mix and so it acts like a
comic/ cartoon teen horror which deserves its own genre..
Maybe most of this movie is recycled
from a scooby doo episode, however the added element is that you have
a reflection of reminiscing college days that adds to the spice of
this film where even though their college summer did not turn out
like they hoped for, they still have a great time! Somehow trying to
avoid being killed, but the horror element lies in the backdrop,
while the teen summer element makes up reminisce more.
Even though some of our summers could
be compared to someone trying to hunt and kill us or that you can
claim that you wish you were incidentally plunged into a similar
predictament like the plot in the movie rather than getting bored out
of your skull in the summer. It still reminds us of our uni or
growing up years that may have been like that.
The best comparison would be the
memories perhaps when you went camping with uni buddies and around
the camp fire told of ghost stories and other suspense driven themes.
This is what the movie evokes!!
The
film was shot over 50 days beginning on March 31, 1997. Shooting
began in Southport, North Carolina and ended in Bodega Bay,
California where the car accident was filmed.
The
scenery made me want to move to the serenity of a country town and
this asthetic as the theme of a small town the film was very
important to the overall execution in trying to create that teen camp
fire feel. This is a great film despite the rotten tomatoes review
and this is based on a thorougher evaluation based on comprehensive
criteria of what makes a great film and the gross profits made at the
box office does not lie.
